From virtual visits to smart precautions in our health centers, we are here for you to get the care you need, in a way that works for you SAFELY.
These challenging times have brought many changes at the Charles Evans Center (CEC) but we have remained steadfast in our commitment to the safety and wellbeing of our patients. While we understand there may be some concern about coming to our health centers, we want to reassure our community that we have put stringent protocols in place to protect every person who comes through our doors. We welcome you to receive the care you need from the doctors you trust. Learn more about how we’re keeping you safe and our COVID-19 resources. Your health is too important to put on hold.
Our team is here for you, from virtual provider visits to thoughtful in-office precautions and safeguards, we’re here to ensure you receive the care you need. Health conditions still need to be managed, procedures still need to be performed, and preventive screenings like the Mammogram and Colonoscopy still need to be scheduled. From continual disinfecting to strict distancing measures, our teams have put rigorous protections in place to keep all our patients safe.
What to Expect During Your Visit
Upon arriving CEC, you can feel confident you are entering a clean health center, where all areas are continually disinfected. All patients and staff are required to wear face masks at all times (patients arriving without a mask will be provided with one).
To ensure social distancing, we have taken measures such as spacing appointments, installing protective barriers and rearranging furniture. We also follow strict isolation protocols to separate COVID-19 patients from others.
Screening and Testing
Patients are screened for COVID-19 symptoms before their appointment and upon arrival.
Screening Policies
Patients with scheduled appointments will be contacted one day prior to the visit. A COVID-19 screening will be completed by phone. On the day of the appointment, an additional COVID screen will be completed at the office, followed by a temperature check. Patients with a positive COVID screening questionnaire will be referred for appropriate care.
COVID-19 Antibody Testing
Please schedule a video visit or call to find out more about antibody testing.
Please discuss with your Provider if you may be a candidate for COVID-19 antibody testing.
COVID-19 Testing
We, currently, are not performing COVID-19 testing in our health centers. To find a COVID-19 testing site near you follow the link to the New York State Department of Health’s website: https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/find-test-site-near-you

Before Your Appointment
Phone Screening: We will call you prior to your visit to conduct a COVID-19 screening questionnaire.
Online Check-In: To reduce your wait time and contact with others, as much of your check-in as possible will be handled by phone before you come in.
When You Arrive
Symptom Screening: All patients will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms, including temperature checks before entering the building. Patients with a positive COVID-19 screening will be referred for appropriate care.
Mandatory Masking: Throughout your visit at CEC, all patients and staff are required to wear face coverings, as well as appropriate protective equipment. Patients and visitors will be provided with a mask, if needed.
Visitor Policy: We are following New York State guidelines on visitor restrictions. Although we want our patients to have the support of their loved ones, for safety reasons we are continuing to prohibit visitors. There are limited exceptions allowing for healthy visitors in certain situations, such as pediatrics, patients needing essential support (such as those with intellectual disabilities or medically compromised).
We will gladly help our patients connect with family and friends through virtual means, such as phone, FaceTime, Skype or Zoom meetings during your visit. Thank you for helping us keep our community safe.
During Your Visit
Hand Hygiene: During your visit, there’s no better time to emphasize the importance of hand hygiene. We recommend that you wash your hands with soap and water at least for 20 seconds frequently. In addition, there are alcohol-based hand sanitizers readily available for our patients and staff throughout our health centers.
Social Distancing: We’re minimizing contact between patients by spacing furniture, minimizing the number of patients in waiting areas, and scheduling more time between appointments. We also encourage the guidelines for social distancing, which is to keep six feet between people.
Behind the Scenes
Exceptional Air Filtration System: CEC has a state-of-the-art UV Light and HEPA air purification and filtration system which is extremely effective at capturing and removing airborne particles, micro-organisms, bacteria, viruses and other contaminants from the health centers’ indoor air.
Continuous Cleaning: All areas are rigorously disinfected, including waiting rooms, patient rooms and high-touch surfaces. Exam rooms receive a thorough cleaning in between patients. More frequent cleaning is given to high-touch surfaces such as door knobs and kiosks.
Staff Screening: Staff are monitoring themselves for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 on a daily basis.
